Coaches’ meetings set for softball

The coaches’ meeting for the 2014 Commander’s Cup Softball Program is set for Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Barnes Field House. Letters of intent are due at that time. The season begins April 21 at 6 p.m. at Eifler Sports Complex.  For more information, contact 533.0041 or thomas.f.lumley.civ@mail.mil.

March is National Nutrition Month

Want to find out more about healthy eating and weight management? Sports, Fitness and Aquatics will host a presentation by Registered Dietician Sonia Blodgett covering those subjects March 28, noon – 1 p.m. at Barnes Field House.

This free event is open to all authorized FMWR patrons, but attendance is limited to 30 people. Sign up at the front desk at Barnes FH. Attendees will have the opportunity to win a door prize.  For more information, call 533.2541.

Right Arm Night — don’t miss out

The next Right Arm Night is set to start at 4 p.m. March 28 at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. Enjoy free finger foods, a pay-as-you-go bar and win prizes in several contests.

SFA schedules 5k walk/run

As part of the ongoing Community Health Promotion Council Family Fitness Series, the Sports, Fitness and Aquatics branch will present a 5K walk/run March 29 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Grierson Pool parking area.

This free event is open to everyone. Participants may pre-register at Barnes Field House, Eifler Fitness Center, or register on-site the day of the event.  For more information, call 533.3246 or 533.5031.

CYSS holds youth soccer registration

Child, Youth and School Services Youth Sports and Fitness Program registration for Spring Youth Soccer is ongoing through March 31 for youth 4 – 12.

Cost is $40, and a full CYSS registration and current sports physical are required for participation.

All practices and games will be conducted on the fields located on H Avenue, across from Colonel Johnston Elementary School. Practices will start on or about April 7, and the season will end around June 7.

CDC offers evening child care April 5

New Beginnings Child Development Center will offer “Parents Night Out” April 5, 6 – 10 p.m. Reservations will be accepted through April 5.

Cost is $16 per child. Children must be registered with Child, Youth and School Services.

‘Friday Night Magic’ set for April 11

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers, or BOSS, will present “Friday Night Magic” Game Night, April 11, 6 – 10 p.m., at Murr Community Center.

Celebrate the Military Child with MWR

Celebrate the “Month of the Military Child” April 12, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre.

There will be activities for the entire Family, including games, paintball, giveaways, information booths, horse lead-arounds, free lunch, popcorn, Barney’s Backyard Barnyard Petting Zoo and more. Youth classes available at SKIES

Child, Youth and School Services SKIESUnlimited Program personnel offer several youth classes, including computer, gymnastics, piano lessons, cooking, karate, tae kwon do and dance.

Dine at TMAC for lunch

Thunder Mountain Activity Centre personnel invite everyone to join them for their lunch buffet, now served Tuesdays through Fridays 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
