SFA schedules 5k walk/run

As part of the ongoing Community Health Promotion Council Family Fitness Series, the Sports, Fitness and Aquatics branch will present a 5K walk/run Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. at the Grierson Pool parking area.

This free event is open to everyone. Participants may pre-register at Barnes Field House, Eifler Fitness Center, or register on-site Saturday.

CDC offers evening child care April 5

New Beginnings Child Development Center will offer “Parents Night Out” April 5, 6 – 10 p.m. Reservations will be accepted through April 5.

Cost is $16 per child. Children must be registered with Child, Youth and School Services.

‘Friday Night Magic’ set for April 11

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers, or BOSS, will present “Friday Night Magic” Game Night, April 11, 6 – 10 p.m., at Murr Community Center.

Celebrate the Military Child with MWR

Celebrate the “Month of the Military Child” April 12, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre.

There will be activities for the entire Family, including games, paintball, giveaways, information booths, horse lead-arounds, free lunch, popcorn, Barney’s Backyard Barnyard Petting Zoo and more. Youth can also register to win one of 10 free bikes.

Advance circus tickets on sale now

FMWR will present the Carson & Barnes Circus April 16 at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Anderson Events Park next to Thunder Mountain Activity Center.

Advance tickets are on sale now at Murr Community Center and Sierra Vista Ace Hardware for $12 for adults and $6 for youth 2 – 11. At the gate, the cost will be $16 for adults and $10 for children. Those under 2 will be admitted free.

TMAC schedules Easter Brunch Buffet

The staff at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre invites everyone to enjoy their Easter Brunch Buffet on Easter Sunday, April 20, 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Cost, with gratuity included, is $25 per person for adults; $12.50 for children 5 – 11; and free for children 4 and under.

The buffet features several gourmet entrees, assorted fresh fruit, seafood, salads, a selection of breakfast specialties, vegetables, potatoes, rolls and muffins, pasta and cheeses, plus the dessert buffet featuring the chocolate fountain.

Vendors needed for Festival of SW

FMWR is looking for food, craft, novelty and other vendors for the Festival of the Southwest, to be held April 25 – 27 at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Sierra Vista.

Register now for duathlon

Applications for the 2-10-2 Duathlon are now available at Barnes Field House and Eifler Fitness Center. The event is set for May 3 beginning at 7 a.m. at Brock Field.

The course consists of a 2-mile run, 10-mile bike ride, and 2-mile run. Registration for active duty is free through April 15.

After April 15, cost for active duty and all others is $10 per individual, $20 per 2-person team, and $30 for 3-person team.

Youth classes available at SKIES

Child, Youth and School Services SKIESUnlimited Program personnel offer several youth classes, including computer, gymnastics, piano lessons, cooking, karate, tae kwon do and dance.

Thunder Mountain Activity Centre personnel invite everyone to join them for their lunch buffet, now served Tuesdays through Fridays 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Cost is $8.95 for adults or $4.50 for children 5 – 11. All buffets include salad bar, desserts, rolls and a non-alcoholic beverage.
