Civilian of the Month: Heather Waclawik
Agency: Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM)
Position and duties: Works in the Resource Management Division (G-8) on the Decision Support Team as an operations research systems analyst. Duties include completing cost estimates and cost benefit analyses for various command initiatives, reviewing cost estimates for contracts, improving cost management procedures within the command and providing as-needed support in various costing scenarios.
How long at current assignment: Working at NETCOM a little over two years. Started as a Department of the Army intern in December 2011 and finished that program in December 2013. Then, was placed permanently with the Decision Support Team.
How long in government service: A little over two years. Before that, was a math teacher at both the junior high and community college levels in Tucson.
Residence: Tucson since 1999.
Family: Parents, brother, uncle and grandmother live in Sierra Vista. Waclawik lives in Tucson with her son, who will be two in April.
Hobbies: Running, watching football, watching the Boston Red Sox, experiencing new beers and local breweries, doing crossword puzzles, reading, dancing and spending time with family and friends.
Accomplishments: Published article in the Armed Forces Comptroller (American Society of Military Comptroller’s journal), and being selected Civilian of the Month for NETCOM and Fort Huachuca.
Also played an instrumental role in providing cost analysis support to a $1.8 billion acquisition program supporting forward deployed warfighters throughout Southwest Asia and Africa.
