command sergeant major, congratulates Command Sgt. Maj. Earl B. Allen, former NETCOM command sergeant major, after Allen’s remarks during a relinquishment responsibility ceremony held April 17, at the Greely Hall Auditorium.

The Network Enterprise Technology Command observed the traditional passing of the Noncommissioned Officer Saber from one command sergeant major to another April 17. During the ceremony, Brig. Gen. John Morrison Jr., NETCOM commanding general, symbolically passed the responsibility of the senior enlisted position from Command Sgt. Maj. Earl Allen to Command Sgt. Maj. Milton Weatherly.

“Since taking over the reins as NETCOM’s commander sergeant major, Sergeant Major Allen has led from the front in all he did,” Morrison said. “He was more than a senior enlisted advisor; he was everyone’s command sergeant major — for our military members, our Civilian teammates and for our Families.”

Allen started his time in NETCOM in June 2013. He personally thanked previous command sergeants major and commanding generals for setting the standard for the position and bringing him onto the team.

“Being selected as the NETCOM command sergeant major is an honor,” Allen said. “Part of that honor for me is knowing past leaders such as Command Sergeants Major [Donald] Manley and [Gerald] Williams built a bench of competent sergeants major who could step up to the plate and fill a higher level of responsibility at a moment’s notice.

“I also want to thank [Major] General [Alan] Lynn for trusting in me and giving me an opportunity to serve as the NETCOM sergeant major,” Allen said.

Morrison was highly complementary on Earl’s relatively short time as the command’s senior enlisted Soldier. Allen was lauded for his exceptional work with higher headquarters in building the future cyber force.

“As we were forming the brigade and first cyber protection teams, Sergeant Major Allen worked tirelessly with the Army G-1 (Personnel) and Human Resources Command to ensure we could select the right troopers and Civilians for this critical mission,” Morrison said. “Today, these teams that were only a part of our imagination a year ago are actively planning for or beginning to conduct operations.”

Weatherly arrived to the command after his most recent assignment as the command sergeant major of the 2nd Signal Brigade, 5th Signal Command (Theater) in Germany. Weatherly has held numerous positions as a noncommissioned officer, in a multitude of locations in East Timor, Germany, the United States and Southwest Asia. He was previously stationed in NETCOM as the chief signal NCO of NETCOM G-3.

“General Morrison, Sergeant Major Allen, thank you both for allowing me the opportunity to serve as the NETCOM sergeant major,” Weatherly said. “I know it is an honor and a privilege to do so with such a dedicated and professional Soldier and Civilian workforce.”

Allen is departing to become the command sergeant major of the Army’s Chief Information Office/G-6 at the Pentagon.
