Colonel Smith Middle School hosts ‘Run for Your Life’

Forty Colonel Smith Middle School students compete in the running portion of the Run for Your Life 3K Run/Walk taking place on the school’s running track and through other parts of campus. The event, hosted by the Step It Up Club, concluded Diabetes Awareness Spirit Week.

Colonel Smith Middle School eighth grade students compete in a “MOD Off,” or competition displaying Movements of the Day to music in the school gym during an assembly May 2 leading up to the Run for Your Life 3K Run/Walk. All three grades got up to perform their choreographed movements in front of three judges for the competition.

Susan Jacoby, Colonel Smith Middle School nurse, welcomes students, faculty, parents and other members of the Fort Huachuca community to the assembly preceding the Run for Your Life 3K Run/Walk May 2. The assembly and run/walk were two school-wide activities that raised diabetes awareness and promoted physical activity.
