Independence Day closures, no bus service

All City of Sierra Vista offices, except The Cove and airport, will be closed on Friday in observance of Independence Day. The Cove will hold open swim from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. No other programs will be offered at The Cove on Friday.

Vista Transit will not offer bus service on Friday.

FH AAFES ‘buddies’ receive exclusive offers

Facebook, Twitter and even your inbox — The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is making it easier for Fort Huachuca shoppers to exercise their Exchange benefit via the Internet.

The Fort Huachuca Exchange’s Buddy List enables military shoppers to be among the first to find out about exclusive savings, promotions, events and special offers at the Exchange just by signing up. All emails will remain private and not be shared or sold to anyone else.

The weekly Buddy List delivers emails about worldwide and local promotions to approximately 233,000 authorized Exchange shoppers. Customers interested in receiving these messages can sign up at the Fort Huachuca Exchange or online at www.shopmyexchange.com/ExchangeStores/buddy.htm.

ASAP Summer Safety Training online

Army Substance Abuse Prevention Program personnel at Fort Huachuca remind Soldiers and Civilians that the Summer Safety Training is online at https://www.ikn.army.mil. The online training is mandatory for all Soldiers and Civilians who did not attend the Summer Safety Expo Comedy Show.

Get it, give at Turnaround Point

The Chapel TurnAround Point, TAP, across from the Armed Forces Bank, is open on Mondays and Tuesdays only, 9 a.m. – noon, excluding four-day weekends.

This program is a “thrift shop” with no money, sponsored by the Garrison Chaplain’s Office. The TAP is open to all active duty Soldiers and their Families.

If you have a gently used furniture or appliance item you don’t want and need someone to pick it up, just call to schedule a day and time. Receipts are available.

Thrift Shop closed for summer break

The Fort Huachuca Thrift Shop is closed through Monday for their summer break.

Commissary open July 4

The commissary will be open on Friday, July 4, 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

HHC USAG to change commanders

In keeping with Army tradition, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Garrison, will conduct a change of command ceremony between Capt. Gregory Birch and Capt. Vanessa Cardenas at the Gazebo on Brown Parade Field on July 16 at 8 a.m.

This event is open to the general public.

Vacation Bible School at Main Post Chapel

Vacation Bible School for the Fort Huachuca Community will be July 14 – 18, 9 a.m. – noon each day at the Main Post Chapel, This year’s theme is “Weird Animals — Where Jesus’ Love is One of a Kind.”

VBS is for children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grade. Childcare for children 6 months – 5 is available for volunteers. Pre-registration for children is highly encouraged and is available on line at: www.groupvbspro.com/vbs/ez/FtHuachuca (type directly into your address bar).

Paper registration forms are also available in Room 4 at the Main Post Chapel.

Sisters, Brothers in Arms Program

The next Fort Huachuca Sisters and Brothers in Arms Program takes place July 25, 11:45 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Fitch Auditorium in Alvarado Hall. This brown bag lunch event will feature a question-and-answer panel with several senior military and Civilian leaders sharing knowledge and experience. Topics of discussion include toxic leadership, stress management and trust within organizations.

MVC seeks vendors for special event

Mountain Vista Communities is looking for vendors for the upcoming 4th Annual Summer Bash July 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Booth space is free and open to any MVC resident who has a home-based business. Space is limited.

ASAP holds weekly newcomer orientation

Fort Huachuca Army Substance Abuse Program personnel welcome newcomers and invite them to attend the ASAP Newcomer Briefing every Wednesday from 10:30 – 11 a.m. Learn about the services ASAP provides to the community as well as the Arizona driving-under-the-influence laws.

USAREC requests recruiters return

Former detailed recruiters can earn a $4,000 bonus if they reclassify to military occupational specialty 79R, recruiter, and return to U.S. Army Recruiting Command. Noncommissioned officers must be a staff sergeant or sergeant, have less than 12 years time in service, and currently be in an over-strength or balanced MOS. Time of service as a 79R must be a minimum of 36 months.

The 2014 Fort Huachuca telephone directories are available at the Fort Huachuca Public Affairs Office, 3015 Carnahan, Building 21115, across from the Gazebo on Brown Parade Field, 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.
