Civilian of the Month

Rick Davis

Rick-Davis-H~S-3
Agency: Engineer & Instrumentation Branch within Intelligence Electronic Warfare Test Directorate, U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground
Position and duties: Electronic technician; provides technical support for testing new Army Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance Systems. AISRS does all operational testing here for the military intelligence systems by conducting a test and run and assessment on the equipment before it deploys out to the units.
How long at current assignment: March 2008
How long in government service: Began in 1986. Prior service, retired Army, and has been serving both active and civil service since then
Residence: Sierra Vista
Family: Wife, Lene, daughter, Amanda, and son, Michael
Hobbies: “I like to target shoot, ride motorcycles and horses. I’m also interested in genealogy, book and stamp collecting.”
Accomplishments: “I earned a bronze star while serving in Iraq with the 1st Armor Division, from 2003 to 2004.”
Advice: “Obstacles don’t have to stop you; you’re going to run into bureaucratic law if you work in the government long enough. But if your end goal is to do the best job you can and if it’s for the benefit of the warfighter then don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. At the end of the day you’ll feel you’ve done the best you could and those Soldiers on the ground; even though they may never know who you are, they will appreciate it when it counts.”
