Don’t miss All Army Boxing Sept. 12, 13 at Barnes FH

Boxers take their best stance as they prepare for a workout in Barnes Field House during trial camp, currently underway on Fort Huachuca. The best boxers will make the All Army team and cuts will be decided on Sept. 12 and 13.

 
All Army Boxing will return to Fort Huachuca’s Barnes Field House. Preliminary bouts are set for Sept. 12, with the championship night scheduled for Sept. 13. Doors open at 6 p.m. and bouts start at 7 p.m.

Head Coach Charles Leverette tells those competing in the All Army Boxing Championship matches what he expects from them this year. Boxers who make the team have the potential to go on to compete in international matches.

This year, boxers from 17 installations around the world will compete for a spot on the 2014 All Army Team. They include members of the Army’s World Class Athlete Program from Fort Carson, Colorado. As of press time, twenty five males and five females will compete. The public is welcome at this free event.

Male and female boxers participate in the All Army Trial Camp at Barnes Field House on Fort Huachuca, an event which lasts for several weeks leading up to the championship tournament. Those who make the cut will go on to compete on Sept. 12 and 13.
