For the first time, a unique partnership between the U.S. Air Force, California State University Long Beach and the professional society of materials science engineers (ASM Foundation) are working together to provide training to regional high school teachers, which will further enhance their ability to teach STEM subjects in their classrooms.
A free, five-day STEM workshop held daily July 23-27 at CUSLB, will provide area teachers with free technical content, new hands-on teaching methods, and information about civilian and military STEM-related careers.
High school teachers of physical sciences (chemistry, physics and math) are encouraged to attend this free, standards-based, professional development workshop taught by a team of three Master Teachers.
Teacher participants will receive for free a full STEM curriculum, consumable supplies and newly teacher-developed-and-proven ideas that are sure to excite and engage students. Teachers receive free CEUs and can acquire two graduate credits.
