SAIC awarded $36 million task order by U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center

Science Applications International Corporation announced June 21 that it was awarded a task order by the U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center – Space Logistics Directorate to provide consolidated logistics management support in support of Air Force Space Command.

The single-award task order has a seven-month base period of performance, two option years and a total contract value of approximately $36 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Colorado Springs, Colo. The task order was awarded under the SMC Technical Services BPA vehicle.

SMC, a key component of AFSPC, is the center of technical excellence for researching, developing and purchasing military space systems. The center is responsible for on-orbit, check-out testing, sustainment and maintenance of military satellite constellations and other Department of Defense space systems. The SL Directorate serves as the SMC focal point for logistics, maintenance, supply, and sustaining engineering policy and processes, and operates the Space Logistics Readiness Center.

Under the contract, SAIC will provide CLMS services, including: initial engineering technical analysis; project planning; project budgeting analysis; and coordination support required to evaluate sustainment issues. SAIC will also provide core sustainment support, logistics support analysis and immediate technical assistance to the user, as required, for several space weapon system programs including: Space Based Infrared System, Military Satellite Communication and Defense Meteorological Satellite Program.

“We look forward to continuing to provide the AFSPC with consolidated logistics management support to sustain operational national security space systems,” said John Fratamico, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager.
