by Senior Airman Sandra Welch and Denise Willhite

Route 56 Grill

Looking for a new dining experience on base besides your usual haunts? Why not try the newly remodeled Route 56 Grill at Thunderbolt Lanes. You can order anything from the “Big Lebowski” (double-sized breakfast burrito) to the half-pound grilled Texas beef melt for under $6. Route 56 Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

At Route 56 Grill, you can build an omelette, burger or pizza with an array of toppings to choose from to satisfy the craving for the day. Bacon chicken ranch and meat-lovers pizzas are two of the specialty pizzas that can be ordered.

The few times we have been to the grill we have not been disappointed. Whether you are eating in or taking out, the service has been quick, easy and affordable. So if you are looking for a quick, tasty bite to eat, try Route 56 Grill.

Crustano’s is a diamond in the blockhouse. If you’re running errands or taking care of business at the blockhouse and looking for a bite to eat, head up to the third floor and check out Crustano’s Plaza Deli. Crustano’s offers made-to-order breakfast and lunch entrees at affordable prices.

Crustano’s offers a weekly lunch special ranging from chicken strips with French fries to a fully loaded taco salad. You can also make any meal into a combo meal with your choice of French fries, onion rings, potato chips, small salad or cup-of-soup and drink. For those with a sweet tooth, home-made baker’s delights such as sugar cookies, glazed donuts and chocolate croissants are also available at Crustano’s. For those watching the waist-line, they can grab a salad and cup-of-soup at the salad bar.
