Renaming ceremony

In honor of Lt. Col. Frank Bryant, a Luke Air Force Base pilot who was killed April 27, 2011, in an attack at Kabul Airport in Afghanistan, there will be a Luke Fitness Center renaming ceremony at 10 a.m. April 30 in the fitness center. The Luke community is invited to attend.

 

Prayer breakfast

The National Prayer Breakfast is 7:30 to 9 a.m. Thursday in Club Five Six. Tickets are on sale through Tuesday and are $5. They can be purchased through first sergeants or the Luke Community Chapel. This year’s theme is “NCIS Investigates Prayer” and guest speaker is Chaplain (Col.) Cherri Wheeler, AETC deputy command chaplain. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. 425th FS change of command

Lt. Col. Michael Dean, 425th Fighter Squadron commander, will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Kevin Cruikshank, 56th Fighter Wing director of staff at 8 a.m. May 4 in Hangar 840.

 

Mt. Home AFB rentals

Marriage enrichment

The Luke Air Force Base Chapel is hosting a Marriage Matters Enrichment seminar 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 in the Chapel on the Mall. National Take-Back drugs initiative

Take back drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Luke Air Force Base Exchange. The National Take-Back Initiative is a DEA program for personnel to turn in unwanted or expired prescription medication for disposal. For more information, call Master Sgt. AFGE Local 1547 cookout

AFGE Local 1547 is holding a cookout for Luke Air Force Base bargaining unit employees 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Fowler Park. For more information, call Diane Talley at (623) 856-6957.

 

Household goods pickups

The personal property shipping office in Colorado Springs needs a minimum of three weeks’ notice for pickup of all shipments. For shipments requiring pack or pickup inside the three-week window, the member will need to provide an emergency impact statement as to why the shipment needs to be picked up inside the three-week window. Alternate dates must be provided to the traffic management office. Members not available on the alternate dates will need to appoint a releasing agent. In the case of a permanent change-of-station this summer, members are encouraged to be proactive to ensure orders are cut in time to meet this requirement. Service academies conference

Representatives of the Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, military and naval academies will explain academic, career and military opportunities each school offers at the Service Academies Conference 2012 10 a.m. to noon April 28 at Camelback High School, 4612 N. 28th Street in Phoenix. All Arizona students and their parents are invited to attend the free conference hosted by Sen. John Kyl and Rep. Ben Quayle. Month of the Military Child 

Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium Day for military families is 9 a.m. to close Saturday. To register or for more information, e-mail lukefamilies@gmail.com.

Military members with eligible dependents can enter to win prizes before April 27 by visiting the Airman and Family Readiness Center in Bldg. 1113. Prizes include AZ Challenger Center Summer Camp in Peoria, Ultra Star movie pack in Surprise, swim lessons at the Silver Wings Pool, annual youth center membership, family bowling pack worth up to $50 or a Little Gym membership. The grand prize is a two-night resort stay in the Valley.
