Chaplain thoughts May 18, 2012

Courtesy of Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Theadore Wilson, 56th Fighter Wing Chapel

When you say a situation or a person is hopeless, you are slamming the door in the face of God. ~ Charles L. Allen

I am an optimist — sort of comes with the territory as a chaplain. My job is to give people hope, but not false hope. False hope is “me” promising someone that a particular situation will get better when I have no idea what the future will be. Our one, true and only real hope lies in and with our Heavenly Father. He never sees any of His children as hopeless — we may think that, but He does not. The hope I try to convey is not anything of this world, but comes through our personal relationship with the Creator of the universe. Do not ever count yourself out or classify your situation as hopeless. In doing so, you slam the door in the face of God while He is knocking to come in.

Blessings from Above …
