Road Closure Advisory

The Maricopa County Department of Transportation contractor will temporarily close Northern Avenue between Litchfield Road and Dysart Road beginning at 3 a.m Tuesday to accommodate new concrete box culvert installation. During this time, Litchfield Road and Dysart Road will remain open. Glendale Avenue or Olive Avenue may be used as an alternate route. Northern Avenue is scheduled to reopen July 3 by 5 p.m.

 

May Fitness Month awards ceremony

The 56th Force Support Squadron will host the May Fitness Month awards ceremony 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bryant Fitness Center.

 

DFAC Food Show

The Ray V. Hensman Dining Facility will host a Food Show 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 31 at the DFAC. All authorized personnel are invited in order to sample food from a variety of vendors and contribute their opinion on future meals. For more information, call (623) 856-6396.

 

Tops in Blue

Tops in Blue will be performing at the Grand Canyon University Arena 7 p.m. June 5. Tops in Blue is an active-duty U.S. Air Force special unit made up of talented amateur performers selected for their entertainment abilities. For more information, go to topsinblue.com.

 

Heart Link

The Airmen and Family Readiness Center will be providing a free program called Heart Link, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 9. The program will help educate military spouses on a variety of topics ranging from Air Force customs and courtesies to how to read a Leave and Earnings Statement. Childcare will be coordinated with the Child Development Center and the Youth Center if needed. To sign up, call (623) 856-6550.

 

Memorial Day Murph

Warrior Fit will host the Memorial Day Murph workout in honor of a fallen U.S. Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient, Lt. Michael Murphy, and other fallen military members 7 a.m. Monday at the base track. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. Keith Farmer at (623) 856-9056.

 

APAH Month activities

May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. The committee is featuring the following events:

  • May 1 to 30: Library static display at the Luke Air Force Base Library.
  • May 31: Jujitsu performance and cultural dances at base exchange, POC is Staff Sgt. Saenz.

 

 

New hours for military clothing store

Military Clothing Sales will have new operational hours beginning Tuesday. The store will be open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Sunday.

 

HAWC watermelon eating contest

The Health and Wellness Center will be sponsoring a watermelon eating contest 10 a.m. June 1 at Building 700, following the Warrior PT Challenge. There are only 20 slots available including 10 male slots and 10 female slots. To sign up, call Aaron Anderson at (623) 856-3778.
