Changes of command

56th TRS

Lt. Col. Charles DeLapp, 56th Training Squadron commander, will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Matthew Liljenstolpe at 8 a.m. today in Hangar 1022.

56th MOS

Maj. Christopher Chestnut, 56th Maintenance Operations Squadron commander, will relinquish command to Maj. James Schieser at 7:30 a.m. July 23 in Bldg. 485.

 

Load crew competition

The quarterly loading competition is 8 and 10 a.m. and noon today in Bldg. 485. The competition pits the best load crews from the five aircraft maintenance units against each other in a side-by-side loading competition evaluated by weapons standardization personnel. The competition is open to the Luke Air Force Base community. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. Travis George at (623) 856-6791.

 

Scholarships

The Luke Enlisted Spouses Club is now accepting applications for two $500 scholarships for spouses of active-duty or deceased members. To get an application, go to the education center, Airmen & Family Readiness Center, or library, or download one at www.lukeafbesc.com. Applications must be received by July 31. Skin cancer screenings

Skin cancer screenings are being offered at Luke Outpatient Clinic 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 25 in the Luke Air Force Base Family Health Clinic. To sign up, or for more information, call (623) 856-2773. Screenings are open to those members assigned to a primary care manager at the Luke Outpatient Clinic, who are over 18 with no prior history of skin cancer.

 

National anthem singers

The 56th Fighter Wing Protocol office is holding auditions by appointment only for active-duty members, Reserve and civilians to sing the national anthem at base functions. For more information, call (623) 856-5605.

 

2011 base telephone directories

The 2011 base telephone directory is available for pick up at customer service at the base exchange, commissary and the Retiree Activities Office located in Bldg. 1150, Room 1181. For more information, call Joni Otsuka at (623) 856-7299.

 

Before, after school program

The 56th Force Support Squadron Youth Center offers a before and after school care program to Luke Air Force Base members. Registration is 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 5:30 p.m. For more information, call (623) 856-7471.

 

Luke Experience

The Luke Experience is looking for adults, age 18 and older, who are interested in acting, singing, improvisation and backstage support. For more information, call Lacey Quattlebaum at (623) 856-9949.

 

Russian discussion club

Practice the Russian language with a native speaker. Learn about the history and culture of Russia. The group meets at 1 p.m. Saturdays and is open to all base personnel. Mongolian barbecue

Mongolian barbecue will be served 5 to 7 p.m. July 26 at Club Five Six. The cost is 65 cents per ounce for club members. For more information, call (623) 856-6446.

 

Craft for a cause

The adult craft group will meet at 5 p.m. July 25 at the Luke Air Force Base Library to make baby blankets for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. No experience is needed and there is no charge. For more information, call (6230 856-7191.
