56th MOS change of command

Maj. Christopher Chestnut, 56th Maintenance Operations Squadron commander, will relinquish command to Maj. James Schieser at 7:30 a.m. today in Bldg. 485.

 

Scholarships

The Luke Enlisted Spouses Club is now accepting applications for two $500 scholarships for spouses of active-duty or deceased members. To get an application, go to the education center, Airmen & Family Readiness Center, or library, or download one at www.lukeafbesc.com. Applications must be received by July 31. Skin cancer screenings

Skin cancer screenings are being offered at Luke Outpatient Clinic 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Luke Air Force Base Family Health Clinic. To sign up, or for more information, call (623) 856-2273. Screenings are open to those members assigned to a primary care manager at the Luke Outpatient Clinic, who are over 18 with no prior history of skin cancer.

 

National anthem singers

The 56th Fighter Wing Protocol office is holding auditions by appointment only for active-duty members, Reserve and civilians to sing the national anthem at base functions. For more information, call (623) 856-5605.

 

Before, after school program

The 56th Force Support Squadron Youth Center offers a before and after school care program to Luke Air Force Base members. Registration is 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 5:30 p.m. For more information, call (623) 856-7471.

 

Luke Experience

The Luke Experience is looking for adults, 18 and older, who are interested in acting, singing, improvisation and backstage support. For more information, call Lacey Quattlebaum at (623) 856-9949.

 

Russian discussion club

Practice the Russian language with a native speaker. Learn about the history and culture of Russia. The group meets at 1 p.m. Saturdays and is open to all base personnel. For more information, call club coordinator Airman 1st Class Sergey Voytov at (602) 373-7601 or the library at (623) 856-7191.

 

Mongolian barbecue

Mongolian barbecue will be served 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Club Five Six. The cost is 65 cents per ounce for club members. For more information, call (623) 856-6446.

 

Craft for a cause

The adult craft group will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Luke Air Force Base Library to make baby blankets for the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. No experience is needed and there is no charge. For more information, call (623) 856-7191.

 

Sound off on the exchange

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is seeking customer satisfaction information to improve the exchange. The 2012 Customer Satisfaction Index is coming to the Exchange Aug. 4 through 25 and addresses customer service, pricing, sales associate availability, merchandise assortment and more. Shoppers who participate will receive a $5 coupon to be used on their next visit.

 

FTAC team leader

Luke Air Force Base is seeking technical or staff sergeants to apply for the First Term Airman Center team leader volunteer position. The team leader is responsible for preparing new Airmen for the Air Force life and must be dedicated to mentoring, demonstrating core values and serving as a positive role model.
