62nd FS change of command

Lt. Col. Brian Jackson, 62nd Fighter Squadron commander, will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Shamsher Mann at 8 a.m. Aug. 10 in Hangar 1022.

 

MSG commander’s call

The 56th Mission Support Group will hold a commander’s call 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday in the base theater. As a result, some support services may be delayed or limited. For more information or if there is a concern, call 1st Lt. Andreas Duvall at (623) 856-6762.

 

Hiring vets

The 2012 Hiring Our Heroes Veterans event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center at 7700 E. McCormick Parkway in Scottsdale. The hiring fair is for veterans, military members currently serving and spouses. The event is free but requires registration. To register, or for more information, go to www.hoh.greatjob.net.

 

The truth about stress

The Luke Air Force Base Library is hosting a free two-hour program on the truth about stress and debunking popular myths. The free presentation is 1 p.m. Aug. 15 and is led by John Nienstedt, trainer and adult educator. Seating is limited. For more information or to reserve a spot, call (623) 856-7191. Luke Experience

Sound off on the exchange

The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is seeking customer satisfaction information to improve the exchange. The 2012 Customer Satisfaction Index is coming to the Exchange Aug. 4 through 25 and addresses customer service, pricing, sales associate availability, merchandise assortment and more. Shoppers who participate will receive a $5 coupon to be used on their next visit.

 

FTAC team leader

Luke Air Force Base is seeking technical or staff sergeants to apply for the First Term Airman Center team leader volunteer position. The team leader is responsible for preparing new Airmen for the Air Force life and must be dedicated to mentoring, demonstrating core values and serving as a positive role model. Sesame Street live at Luke

Sesame Street and the USO are bringing the muppets to Luke Air Force Base for a free show at 6 p.m. Aug. 31 and 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 1 at the youth center. Doors open 30 minutes before the show begins and no tickets are required. Seating is available on a first-come first-served basis. For more information, call (623) 856-7152.

 

Backpacks of Love

The child development and youth centers are collecting school supplies, backpacks and uniforms for children. Drop off items before Aug. 17. For more information, call (623) 856-6339.

 

Bundles for babies

A bundles for babies class is 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. For more information, call (623) 856-6550.

 

Teen dance party

A back-to-school teen dance party is 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 10 at the youth center. Admission is $3 and includes DJ music, karaoke, contests and more. Register to attend by Aug. 3. For more information or to register, call (623) 856-7470.

 

Beat the heat 5k run

The beat the heat 5k fun run is 6:30 a.m. Aug. 10 starting at the 944th Fighter Wing, Bldg. 988. There will be awards for the first through third-place male and female competitors. Prize drawings and refreshments are included. For more information, call (623) 856-6241.
