Sports Shorts – August 3, 2012

Fall triathlon

The fall triathlon featuring a 400-meter swim, 12-mile bike ride and 5k run is 7 a.m. Sept. 22 at Silver Wings Pool. The cost is $20 per military person and $45 for others. Register by Sept. 14 and receive a free T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the open male, open female, over-40 male, over-40 female and team categories. Start Smart basketball

Start Smart basketball, a developmentally appropriate introductory basketball program for children ages 3 to 5, is 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays Aug. 14 through Sept. 18 at the youth center. Sign-up is limited to 15 participants. For more information, call (623) 856-7470.

 

Scuba diving classes

A two-day scuba diving class will be held Sept. 1 and 2 at Silver Wings Pool. The cost is $99 and includes all instruction materials and equipment. For more information or to sign up, call (623) 856-7120.

 

Friday family fun

Thunderbolt Lanes is offering Friday family fun night from 4 to 8 p.m. every Friday for $35 per family of four. Two hours of bowling, shoe rental, two adult meals and two kid’s meals are included. For more information, call (623) 856-6529.
