Texas

Former basic military training instructor Tech. Sgt. Christopher Smith was found guilty of two specifications of unprofessional relationships with two basic trainees. His sentence included 30 days confinement and reduction in rank to airman 1st class.

 

Mississippi

A Keesler Air Force Base medical technician saved a man from drowning while in Helen, Ga. Airman 1st Class Shaina Buller, was tubing down a river when she saw a man flailing his arms. Buller and her sister successfully pulled the man to shore.

 

London

Two Air Force officers qualified for primary and alternate positions on the U.S. Olympic team for the 2012 Summer Games in London. Both are a part of the Air Force World Class Athlete program that is a two-year program providing regular Air Force the opportunity to train and compete at national and international sports competitions.

 

Germany

Airman 1st Class Robert Hernandez from El Paso, Texas, 86th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, died in his private quarters in Otterberg. A fire, which broke out in the kitchen, expanded to the entire apartment and set the roof ablaze early Aug. 5.
