“If I have been injured by another, let me think (to) myself – How much better to be the sufferer than the wrongdoer!”
~ R. C. Chapman
R. C. Chapman was a great theologian from the mid to late 1800s in England and had a unique way of putting things in a proper and spiritual perspective. As you can imagine, “forgiveness” is something talked about a lot in my business as a chaplain. Quite honestly, when I came across the quote above, I had never really thought about being wronged in that context. I believe the core of this particular thought is not only are sufferers innocent and wrongdoers guilty, but in the eyes of God, being innocent is better than being guilty any day. Have you wronged someone recently? If so, there are two people to ask forgiveness from — the one whom you caused pain and God Almighty Himself.
