Salutes and Awards

Honoring a hero……

Capt. Andrew Hoeffler, right, 56th Medical Operations Squadron family nurse practitioner, is awarded the John Davis Jr. Award Aug. 31 for Valor by Geoffrey Heard, Arizona Black Law Enforcement Officer president, during the ABLE 2012 Criminal Justice Conference in Phoenix. The award is presented to a local citizen in recognition of an act of valor, bravery or life-saving, which involves risk to personal safety and/or results in the preservation of life that, without the citizen’s aid, could have resulted in death. Hoeffler saved the life of Ashawnis Guidry, 5, son of Staff Sgt. Christopher Guidry, 56th Civil Engineer Squadron, while he was swimming in the Balfour Beatty Community Pool at Luke Air Force Base. Ashawnis made a full recovery from the near-drowning due to the quick actions of Hoeffler.
