Street Beat – September 21, 2012

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following issues Sept. 7 through 13:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for 15 moving and three nonmoving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Sept. 8: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident in the commissary parking lot.

Sept. 8: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident adjacent to Bldg. 635.

Emergency responses

Sept. 12: Security forces and firefighters responded to the smell of smoke at the Bryant Fitness Center. The building was evacuated and swept for signs of fire and smoke with no findings.

Nonemergency responses

Sept. 10: Security forces responded to a 911 hang-up in base housing. The subject was briefed on proper emergency contact procedures.

Sept. 11: Security forces responded to a report of wants/warrant hit during a routine traffic stop. Glendale police responded and took control.

Sept. 12: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting at the base exchange. An individual was barred from base. Glendale police responded and took control.

Sept. 13: Security forces responded to a report of an individual trespassing at the South Gate Visitor Center. Glendale police responded and took control.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to three alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

Bicycle riders on the road are to always yield to cars and pedestrians; look left, right and left again before crossing the street; obey all traffic signs and signals; stay off highways; and ride with traffic, close to the curb and in single file.
