Commander’s calls

Brig. Gen. Michael Rothstein, 56th Fighter Wing commander, will hold commander’s calls at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today in the Bryant Fitness Center gym.

Small business briefing

A small business administration briefing is 1 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Luke Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 1113. For more information or to reserve a seat, call (623) 856-6550.

Absentee ballots

States will continue to accept absentee ballot applications until the end of October. Military members, Defense Department civilians and dependents can register for an absentee ballot online at www.fvap.gov. If a state does not participate in online absentee ballot applications, voters are still able to fill out and print the application via the website and postage will be paid by Uncle Sam. Service station closure

In order to process end-of-year transactions the base service station will be closed from midnight Saturday to midnight Sunday. Vehicles must refuel prior to midnight Saturday. Emergency and first-responder vehicles can refuel at the Fuels Management Flight compound until 8 a.m. Sunday. Exceptions to these times must be approved by 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron Fuels Management. For more information, call (623) 856-7391.

Outpatient clinic closure

Luke Air Force Base Outpatient Clinic will be closed today for training. For more information, call (623) 856-4217.

FEND is available

The Federal Employees News Digest and the Federal Employees Almanac is now available from the Air Force Portal. FEND provides weekly updates, opinion and advice on federal employee pay, benefits policies and developments in the federal government. Use the “Library” tab to access this and other databases from the AF Portal. For more information, call the Luke Air Force Base Library at (623) 856-7191.

Third-party insurance collections

All non-active duty beneficiaries using 56th Medical Group facilities must sign the electronic Department of Defense Form 2569 on an annual basis. This allows the military to bill other health insurance companies for medical care, including pharmaceuticals. Electronic DD Form 2569s can be signed at any clinic within the 56th Medical Group and at the satellite pharmacy. Beneficiaries are no longer required to carry the blue card once they have signed the electronic DD Form 2569. For more information, call James Mitchell at (623) 856-4057.

MOAA dinner

The Military Officers Association of America Luke Chapter, will hold a dinner meeting at 5 p.m. Oct. 11 at Club Five-Six. Entertainment will be provided by the Desert Aires Barbershop Chorus. All active-duty, retired, and warrant officers, and their spouses are invited to attend. Martial arts training

The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program will mentor the first all-Airmen instructor lead MCMAP tan and grey belt course at Luke Air Force Base 6:30 to 8 a.m. Nov. 26 through Dec. 21. The class is limited to 20 people, includes a health screening and paperwork due by Nov. 16. For more information, call the Bryant Fitness Center at (623) 856-6241.

Car show, men’s health expo, golf

The 56th Medical Group is featuring “Tune-up for Health,” a car show and men’s health expo at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at Club Five Six. View hot rods, classic cars and motorcycles, and get a health and wellness check at the same time. Food, refreshments and prizes are also included and the event is open to dependents. Free golf tournament

Military members, retirees and their dependents are invited to the Charles Schwab Cup Championship Oct. 31 through Nov. 4 at Cochise Course at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale. Admission is free. Military Appreciation Day is Nov. 3. For more information, go to www.schwabcup.com.

Operation KIDS

Operations KIDS is 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at Camp Thunderbolt, Bldg. 400 on Luke Air Force Base. It is a simulated deployment experience for children ages 6 to 15. Registration is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Allen Readiness Center at 5636 E. McDowell Rd., Bldg. M5260, Phoenix; 2 to 7 p.m. Oct. 9 and 11 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 1113.
