Street Beat and Justice Report – September 28, 2012

The 56th Security Forces Squadron handled the following issues Sept. 14 through 21:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for 16 moving and three nonmoving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

Sept. 18: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident at Bldg. 1130.

Sept. 20: Security forces responded to an off-base accident at Glendale Avenue and Kachina Gate. No military members were involved.

Emergency responses

Sept. 14: Security forces responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in base housing involving an active-duty member. The member was released to the first sergeant.

Sept. 15: Security forces responded to a medical emergency at Bldg. 640. An individual was transported to West Valley Hospital.

Non emergency responses

Sept. 14: Security forces responded to a noise complaint in housing. An individual was briefed on quiet hours.

Sept. 16: Security forces responded to a fire alarm at Bldg. 528 to assist with crowd control. No fire was present.

Sept. 18: Security forces responded to a report of damage to private property in base housing. The incident is under investigation.

Sept. 20: Security forces responded to a 911 hang-up in base housing. An individual was briefed on proper emergency contact procedures.

Sept. 20: Security forces responded to a warrant hit on an individual trying to access base. Glendale police responded and took control.

Sept. 20: Security forces responded to a disabled bus in the outbound lane at Lightning Gate. SFS assisted with traffic control until the bus was put back in service.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to six alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

Before taking a long road trip the driver should ensure the vehicle is well lubed and fluids, filters, tires and brakes are checked. Remove dirt from windows and mirrors and be prepared for emergencies.

The following is a list of Articles 15 issued at Luke Air Force Base in August:

56th Maintenance Group

A senior airman received an Article 15 for DUI. The member received a reduction to E-3, forfeiture of $750 pay per month for two months, restriction to base for 15 days and a reprimand.

56th Mission Support Group

An airman first class received an Article 15 for wrongful appropriation and housebreaking. The member received a reduction to E-2, suspended reduction to E-1, forfeiture of $745 pay per month for two months, restriction to base for 14 days, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand.

Tenant units

An airman first class received an Article 15 for underage drinking. The member received suspended reduction to E-2, forfeiture of $417 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.

An airman first class received an Article 15 for drinking in the training dorms, which is against Air Education and Training Command policy. The member received a suspended reduction to E-2, forfeiture of $417 pay per month for two months and a reprimand.

An airman 1st class received an Article 15 for underage drinking, cohabitating with another Airman in the dorms and drinking in the training dorms, which is against AETC policy. The member received a reduction to E-1 and a reprimand.

Article 15 punishments for similar offenses may vary from case to case based on the circumstances of the offense and such factors as an offender’s age, military and disciplinary record, financial condition and suitability for continued service. To ensure fair administration of justice throughout the Luke community, the legal office reviews all cases.
