Luke Air Force Base has a new resident, Pete Alaniz, who is ready to make an impact on quality of life here as the Luke Exchange’s new general manager.
“I’m extremely excited to be at Luke,” he said. “Taking care of Airmen and their families is my number one priority. I will strive to ensure their needs are met every time they step foot in the exchange.”
Alaniz comes to Luke from Beale AFB, Calif., where he was general manager for the past year and a half. He has 14 years of experience with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service and has served at several locations including Joint Base Lewis McChord, Wash., Fort McPherson Consolidated Exchange, Ga., and Eielson Exchange, Alaska.
“Much like our customers, I have been on the move throughout my career,” Alaniz said. “I am anxious to put best practices learned from previous locations to use here at the Luke Exchange to provide a great shopping experience.”
Making the Luke Exchange the customer’s first choice helps the entire community as part of the exchange’s dual mission, which is to generate earnings that provide a dividend to support morale, welfare and recreation programs. In 2010, Airmen exercising their benefit by dining and shopping on base generated a dividend of more than $525,000.
“These funds are critical to MWR programs’ ability to enhance local programs and facilities,” Alaniz said. “As a result, the dollars that Airmen and their families use to shop the exchange generate a healthy return by directly improving quality of life efforts.”
