Students take aim at targets during the youth and teen archery camp Tuesday at Luke Air Force Base. During the four-day course, children learned archery techniques from the Papago International Archery Federation archery instructors. They practiced proper drawing, weapon care and various types of aiming.

 
 
 
 

Camp-out and fishing derby

A camp-out and fishing derby will be held Nov. 2 through 4 at the Luke Air Force Base Silver Wings park. There is no charge but registration is required. The camp-out is limited to 150 participants. For more information, call (623) 856-6267.

Grand Canyon Day Trip

The Luke Air Force Base Bryant Fitness Center will feature a day trip to the Grand Canyon Nov. 17. The cost is $40 per person. Trip includes transportation and park entry fee. Space is limited. For more information, call (623) 856-6267.

Powerlifting competition

The Luke Air Force Base Bryant Fitness Center will feature a power-lifting competition at 10 a.m. Oct. 19. Sign-in is 9:30 a.m. Events include squat, deadlift and bench press in men’s and women’s categories. Register by today. For more information, call (623) 856-6241.

Start Smart football

Start Smart Football is a developmentally appropriate introductory flag football program for children, ages 4 to 6. Classes are 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 13 at the youth center. Parents work one-on-one with with their children. The cost is $20 per child and includes a T-shirt. The class is limited to 15 participants. For more information, call (623) 856-7470.
