Thunderbolt of the Week – October 12, 2012

Airman 1st Class Jan-Michael Wood

62nd Fighter Squadron

Squadron Aviation Resource Manager

Hometown: McLouth, Kan.

Years in service: One

Education: Associate degree in liberal arts

Inspirations: This is my first time away from home, and the 62nd FS men and women have made me feel at home

Goals: Complete a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, achieve senior airman below-the-zone, attend Officer Training School, and maintain a healthy and successful lifestyle

Greatest feat: I am proud that I am an American Airman

Famous last words: “Even if you’re not a fighter pilot, have the attitude of one.”

Off-duty interests: Hiking, camping, sports, art and meeting people

Commander’s comments: “Airman Wood is a dedicated Airman whose presence benefits the 62nd FS every day,” said Lt. Col. Shamsher Mann. “He’s a self-starter who seeks out responsibility rather than waiting for it to be assigned to him. Even as a junior Airman, he consistently demonstrates professionalism, resourcefulness, organizational ability and foresight. In less than two months, he has been certified on the operations desk where he’s at the heart of the squadron’s daily flying operation. The Spikes are lucky to have him.
