Firefighters muster Thunderbolt muscle

Staff Sgt. Jose Hoskins, 56th Security Forces Squadron desk sergeant, tosses water onto the roof of a simulated house during the bucket brigade obstacle Oct. 12, the last obstacle of the 2012 Firefighter’s Muster at Luke Air Force Base. The objective of the four-man team was to fill a barrel with water by transporting water in buckets from the drop tank and throwing it onto the roof so the water run-off from the gutter fills a barrel. Time stops when the barrel overflows. A 50-foot dummy drag, hitting a tire with a sledge hammer repeatedly to move it a specified distance and equipment carry were additional obstacles in the course. Judges consisted of two time keepers and two violation referees. Scoring was based on overall time plus time infractions. The 56th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, Capt. Edmund Spivak, 56th CES EOD Flight commander, Staff Sgt. Jamie Ciciora, 56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs broadcaster, Staff Sgt. Zach Skula, and Senior Airman Stephen Alvarez, 56th CES EOD journeymen, placed first.
