Chaplain thoughts – October 26, 2012

“The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example.”

~ Benjamin Disraeli

Veteran’s Day is not that far off, and I want to take the opportunity these next few weeks to focus on “heroes.” Many would debate what defines a hero.
Certainly we can agree that our Medal of Honor recipients are heroes as well as many others who do great feats on the battlefield. What about those who served in combat zones but never saw “action.” In the distant future or even now, we may be the ones in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American
Legion caps … and what an honor that is! I also believe in every-day heroes.
What about parents? I know I want to be a “hero” in eyes of my children. I want to leave that “inheritance” mentioned above and be an example to them and others. Proverbs 22:1 tells us, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches.” How will you be remembered?

Blessings from Above …

To do or to be? – A very good question

Col. Daniel Smith I am a huge fan of the Air Force core values. For a long time, I have felt that whatever board or individual developed the values got them absolutely right. In fact, every Airman, young or … seasoned, who co...
