Chaplain thoughts – November 16, 2012

“Our future leaders (NCOs and officers) must possess faith, determination, and a positive attitude. I believe a positive attitude will carry you farther than ability.”

~ Master Sgt. Roy Benavidez

Medal of Honor recipient

In honor of Native American Indian Heritage Month, I chose this quote from a true American hero, a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. How much “positive attitude” do you have? Many, many years ago, I asked a young Airman while in training about what was happening to him. His reply … “This sucks.” I asked him to put a positive spin on the situation. He replied with a smile. “This positively sucks.”

As we approach Thanksgiving, I want you to think about your own personal faith, determination and attitude as well as those around you. How do you stack up? Do you bleed negativity and know it? How do others respond when around you? We need positive and encouraging leaders … and followers. Give thanks to our Lord above not only during this time of year but all the time. You will have a much more positive attitude about life if you do.

Blessings from Above …

Followership key to being a leader

Maybe you played “follow the leader” at school during recess or in some neighbor’s yard down the street. It’s a fun game, requires no expensive equipment and can be played indoors or outdoors – just about anywhere. Positive attitude leads to success

Everyone wants to be successful, and there are many books, internet tests, and programs people try to market and sell to guarantee that success.
