Finance office closed
The 56th Comptroller Squadron office will be closed Wednesday for Wingman Day. This includes the customer service office. If there is an emergency, or for more information, call Master Sgt. Matthew Pulsipher at (623) 203-8210.
Martial arts training
The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program will mentor the first all-Airmen instructor-led MCMAP tan and grey belt course at Luke Air Force Base 6:30 to 8 a.m. Nov. 26 through Dec. 21. The class is limited to 20 people and includes a health screening. Sign up deadline is today. For more information, call the Bryant Fitness Center at (623) 856-6241.
AETC base-wide exercise
The 56th Fighter Wing will conduct an active-shooter exercise Dec. 5 and 6. All of Luke Air Force Base personnel, including all civilians and retirees who are on base for appointments/shopping, will play in this exercise. This will include being unable to leave the base and hunkering down under tables for up to several hours. To be excluded from playing in this exercise, it is advisable to plan a visit to Luke AFB outside of these dates, especially Dec. 5 from 8 a.m. to noon. Expect traffic disruptions, gate closures or delays, and interruptions of customer service operations. People can expect to see emergency vehicles and response aircraft in the area throughout the day.
Holiday Magic
Holiday Magic is 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Club Five Six parking lot. The tree lighting is 5:45 p.m. Vouchers for free Christmas trees, gift bazaar, children’s activities including snow, Santa and Mrs. Claus visits, horse-drawn hay rides, food and beverages are included. Airman cookie drive
Cookies for the 2012 Airman Cookie Drive will be collected 7 to 10 a.m. Dec. 10 at Club Five Six. Those interested in making cookies must email LukeCookies@yahoo.com. Cookies will be distributed to Airmen staying on Luke Air Force Base for the holidays.

New TSP contributions open
Active-duty members of the Air Force, Army and Navy are now able to contribute to the Roth Thrift Savings Plan as part of investment planning through the member’s online MyPay account or submit a TSP-U-1 form to the finance office. The after-tax contributions will be electronically deducted from the service member’s pay account. The National Guard and Reserve should be able to make Roth TSP contributions sometime in 2013. NAIH observance month
November is National American Indian Heritage month. This year’s theme is “Serving Our People, Serving Our Nations: Native Visions for Future Generations.” Events featured throughout the month include an artifact display at the library. For more information, call Gabriel Groves at (623) 856-3441.
Thrift shop
The thrift shop is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for consignments and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for sales Wednesday and Friday in Bldg. 750. The staff accepts clothing, household goods, furniture, small appliances, hardware, etc. For more information on items that are not currently being accepted or prior to dropping off large items, call the Thrift Shop at (623) 935-5782 during business hours. All profits are donated to the Luke Officer Spouses Club Welfare Fund to help finance welfare projects throughout the Luke community.
