Hand-2-hand combat


John Biel, Marine Corps Bulk Fuel Company C and Daniel Rakowski, 56th Contracting Squadron, demonstrate Wednesday a technique used to help gain the upper hand when an opponent is on top during combat. The month-long Marine Corps Martial Arts Program combative course began Monday and participants will graduate Dec. 21 with a green belt in the program.

Winter games

The Luke Winter Games are Dec. 10 through 14 and include a home run derby, tug-o-war tournament, relay races, 3-on-3 basketball tournament, humvee push, 3-on-3 football tournament, obstacle course, bench press challenge, 2-on-2 sand volleyball tournament, track and field events, and a 5k fun run. The Luke Winter Games and Commander’s Cup trophies will be presented in an awards ceremony. For more information, call the Bryant Fitness Center at (623) 856-6241.

World Wide Bowling

Children ages 5 to 18 can enter to win a 900 Global bowling ball and bag by bringing friends to bowl at Thunderbolt Lanes. For more infomation, call (623) 856-6529.

Red Eye Open tournament

The Red Eye Open golf tournament is 8 a.m. Jan. 1, 2013, at Falcon Dunes Golf Course. The cost is $45 per club member, $50 per nonmember and $55 per guest, and includes breakfast, green fees, range balls, cart rental, lunch and prizes. Deadline to register is Dec. 28. Jingle Bell fun run

The Jingle Bell 1.5-mile fun run is at 7 a.m. Dec. 14 in front of the Bryant Fitness Center. For more information, call (623) 856-6241.
