56th Fighter Wing Public Affairs

The U.S. Air Force Aerial Demonstration Team, the Thunderbirds, will join Luke Air Force Base March 16 and 17 for Luke’s biennial open house and air show.

Performing alongside the Thunderbirds in the air show lineup thus far include an F-16 close air support demonstration and a Marine Corps AV-8 Harrier demonstration, among others.

Previous Luke open houses have averaged more than 100,000 spectators each day, and the base expects the same in 2013. There will be food, games and plenty of attractions to make the event memorable. Numerous ground displays and attractions will also be available for attendees.

The air show is open to the public and admission is free. For more information, visit the air show’s website at www.luke.af.mil and click on the Open House and Air Show graphic on the middle of the page. More can also be found on the 56th Fighter Wing’s Facebook page at “Luke AFB, Arizona-56th Fighter Wing.”

The event website is the best place to visit for daily updates. Information included on the website will be a full list of confirmed aerial acts, items attendees can and can’t bring, points of contact and information for media outlets. The site will be updated as information becomes available.

Media outlets looking for more information can call 1st Lt. Ryan DeCamp at (623) 856-6011.
