Winter games last chance to win commander’s cup

The Luke Air Force Base Winter Games were the final fitness center organized sporting event of the year for squadrons to receive points to increase their chances of taking home the commander’s cup. The commander’s cup is given to the squadron that has scored the most points throughout the year earned by participating in intramural sporting events. The winter games included a homerun derby, tug o’ war, homerun races, 3-on-3 football, an obstacle course, a soccer shootout, 3-on-3 basketball, a humvee push, 2-on-2 sand volleyball and a one-mile run. The 56th Security Forces Squadron is this year’s commander’s cup winner.

 

 

Travus Gonzalez, 756th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron resource advisor, catches a pass to win the 3-on-3 flag football game. The 756th AMXS placed third and the 56th Medical Group won the tournament.

 

 

Nick Valentine, 56th Equipment Maintenance Squadron Aerospace ground equipment, attempts to block a shot in the soccer shootout. Valentine missed the shot. EMS placed fourth and 56th Maintenance Operations Squadron was first in the shootout.

 

 

Brett Evanicki, 756th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, blocks a shot Dec. 13 by Michael Imholte, 56th Force Support Squadron, during the 2-on-2 sand volleyball game at the Balfour Beatty Community Center volleyball court. FSS defeated AMXS to move onto the semifinals. The 56th Security Forces Squadron team won.

Brian Lefevere, 56th Security Forces Squadron, spins around the bat in the dizzy bat portion of the winter games homerun races. The 56th Security Forces Squadron won the race with a time of 48 seconds.

 

 

Philemon Sehne, 56th Force Support Squadron, low crawls through the obstacle course. The 56th Security Forces Squadron Team 2 finished first.
