TRICARE Service Center closes early

The 56th Medical Group TRICARE Service Center will close at 1 p.m. Feb. 15 in preparation for the TRICARE West transition from TriWest Healthcare Alliance to United Healthcare Military and Veterans. The center is located at the Luke Air Force Base Outpatient Medical Clinic, third floor. Normal operations will resume Feb. 19. For more information, call TRICARE Operations at (623) 856-4217.

LOSC evening

The Luke Officers Spouses Club will be hosting an evening of fun and country line dancing 6:30 p.m. Feb. 20 at Roman’s Oasis. For more information or to RSVP, email Nicole at LukeOSCReservations@gmail.com.

CCAF Spring graduation deadline

Air Force enlisted personnel nearing completion of requirements to earn an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force must request official transcripts be sent to CCAF/DESS, Attn: Transcript Dept, 100 South Turner Blvd, Maxwell-Gunter AFB AL 36114-3011 three to four weeks before the deadline for CCAF to receive them. The deadline is March 1. Students should verify their receipt by accessing the Air Force Virtual Education Center site through the Air Force Portal and notify the education office once the credits appear on their records. AFSA meeting

Golf tournament

A 2013 Women’s History Month golf tournament begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. March 1 at Falcon Dunes Golf Course. The cost is $40 per person and includes lunch. Prizes will be given for 1st and 2nd-place, closest to the pin and longest drive. Mulligans will also be for sale. Registration deadline is Feb. 22. For more information, call 1st Lt. MOAA meeting

The Military Officers Association of America Luke Chapter will hold the monthly meeting Thursday at Club Five-Six. Social hour begins at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. and “The Arizona Trio” at 7 p.m. Active-duty, retired, warrant officers of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, U.S. Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, their spouses, and auxiliary members are invited to attend. National Children’s Dental Health Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month to increase the awareness of good dental habits for children. The 56th Dental Squadron’s focus is preventive oral health care for children and will present information to the Luke Air Force Base community at 9 to 11 a.m. today and Feb. 20 at the child development center, 1 to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Luke Elementary School, 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Luke AFB Library, 1:30 to 2 p.m. Feb. 21 at Luke Elementary School and 3 to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at the youth center. Information about proper nutrition, developing good oral hygiene and the importance of regular dental checkups is included. For more information, call Staff Sgt. Tax center hours

The tax center is now open by appointment only. E-1 through E-4 may have their taxes prepared at the center through Feb. 28. All others can make appointments for March 1 through April 15. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Bldg. 1150. For more information or to make an appointment, call (623) 856-3140.

Luke GameStop closing

GameStop’s plan to close 200 stores includes the Luke Air Force Base facility, which closed Thursday. The Army & Air Force Exchange Service regularly reviews offerings to ensure they meet the community’s needs. The process of identifying and bringing a new retail activity to the space GameStop occupied is ongoing.

Range trespass notice

The Combat Arms Ranges located at Luke Air Force Base, Bldg. 918, and the grenade launcher training area located at Luke Air Force Base Auxiliary Field are off limits to all personnel. Live fire training is conducted on these ranges, and trespassing is not only illegal but also dangerous because of gunfire. For more information or to obtain entry due to a valid need, call Tech. Savings on homes

Balfour Beatty Communities (Luke family housing) is currently offering three-bedroom renovated homes for $1,100 per month with a one-year lease for E-1 through E-5 active-duty military members only. With an allotted base allowance for housing of $1,287 for those ranks and $1,461 for E-5, members can save money through the basic allowance for housing. Tech expo

The Luke Air Force Base Technology Exposition is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at Club Five Six. The 56th Communications Squadron is hosting the event that is free to the base community. A free do-it-yourself tax return preparation website for those making less than $57,000 annual income is www.myfreetaxes.com/luke. For those making more than $57,000, go to www.militaryonesource.com.

Trip reduction survey

The annual trip reduction survey is being conducted through Feb. 21 online at http://www.maricopa.gov/AQ/Trp_Internet_Survey_2008/Default.aspx. Base personnel, minus deployed Airmen, are asked to take the two-minute survey. The survey is required by Maricopa County Air Quality Department, and participation will be tracked. The data will be used to analyze and plan to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips.

Auto hobby shop hours

The auto hobby shop hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and will be closed Sunday and Monday. For more information, call (623) 856-6107

Military children scholarships

Applications for the Scholarships for Military Children Program for students enrolling full-time in the fall of 2013 in an undergraduate program leading to a bachelor’s degree are now being accepted. For more information, go to www.militaryscholar.org.
