Financial classes offered on base

Some people are feeling the financial pain from the holiday hangover? Those with any money concerns at all, should take action now to improve their financial future.

Now is the time to take a serious look at your spending habits, emergency fund, account balances, savings and investments. Make time during the 2013 Military Saves Week, Feb. 25 through March 2, to start small and think big. It’s part of two larger campaigns — the Defense Department Financial Readiness Campaign and the even larger nationwide America Saves campaign.

The theme for the 2013 campaign is “Set a Goal, Make a Plan, Save Automatically!” Take the Saver Pledge (or repledge) at http://www.militarysaves.org/.

Many Americans have also been challenged to balance budgets. Money experts agree that debt and credit card bills cause most Americans to sacrifice their savings goals. The most important step is to learn what it takes to live within, or below, set means and then take the steps necessary to meet goals. Don’t make it too complicated.

The following events can help and are available before and during Luke Air Force Base Military Saves Week:

• Finance 101: 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Airman & Family Readiness Center, Bldg. 1113

• Credit Score Improvement: 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the A&FRC

How many of you are prepared for life outside of the military? Seriously, if you were told tomorrow was your final out, what would you do?
