TRICARE Service Center closes early
The 56th Medical Group TRICARE Service Center will close at 1 p.m. today in preparation for the TRICARE West transition from TriWest Healthcare Alliance to United Healthcare Military and Veterans. CCAF Spring graduation deadline
Air Force enlisted personnel nearing completion of requirements to earn an associate degree from the Community College of the Air Force must request official transcripts be sent to CCAF/DESS, Attn: Transcript Dept, 100 South Turner Blvd, Maxwell-Gunter AFB, AL 36114-3011 three to four weeks before the deadline for CCAF to receive them. The deadline is March 1. Students should verify their receipt by accessing the Air Force Virtual Education Center site through the Air Force Portal and notify the education office once the credits appear on their records. Golf tournament
A 2013 Women’s History Month golf tournament begins with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. March 1 at Falcon Dunes Golf Course. The cost is $40 per person and includes lunch. National Children’s Dental Health Month
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month to increase the awareness of good dental habits for children. The 56th Dental Squadron’s focus is preventive oral health care for children and will present information to the Luke Air Force Base community 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the child development center, 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Luke AFB Library, 1:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Luke Elementary School, and 3 to 4 p.m. Feb. 25 at the youth center. Information about proper nutrition, developing good oral hygiene and the importance of regular dental checkups is included. For more information, call Staff Sgt. Tax center hours
The tax center is now open by appointment only. Active-duty enlisted members may have their taxes prepared at the center through Feb. 28. Active-duty, retired and all others can make appointments for March 1 through April 15. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in Bldg. 1150. Stay at home spouses can have their own small business as child care providers to assist parents seeking drop-in, part-time, full-time or shift care for children ages 2 weeks to 12 years. Viking challenge
The Logistics Officers Association is holding the 3rd Annual Viking Challenge 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5 at the Luke Air Force Base track. It will be a 10-person running relay with each member running a mile at a time. The entry fee is $100 per team, with the proceeds going to the LOA Airman’s Education Scholarship Fund. Trip reduction survey
The annual trip reduction survey is being conducted through Thursday online at http://www.maricopa.gov/AQ/Trp_Internet_Survey_2008/Default.aspx. Base personnel, minus deployed Airmen, are asked to take the two-minute survey. The survey is required by Maricopa County Air Quality Department, and participation will be tracked. The data will be used to analyze and plan to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips.
