TRICARE service center changes

“There is nothing permanent except change,” are words credited to Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher.

In the coming months members can expect to see some changes in the administration of health benefits locally.

One change has been UnitedHealthcare Military and Veterans moving Feb. 19 into the 56th Medical Group TRICARE service center. This was the first visible step in the transition from TriWest to UHC M&V.

What does this mean to the beneficiary? It means that support for active referrals, claims or debt issues will be handled through the (888) TriWest (874-9378) line or by visiting a beneficiary counseling and assistance coordinator who will assist in navigating and getting resolutions for member concerns.

Although UHC M&V has moved in, TriWest remains our managed care support contractor through March 29. This dual period allows UHC M&V and TriWest to prepare for the full transition April 1.

Many questions remain about the transition and what it means to members and their ability to access care, but the transition should be seamless to beneficiaries.

In the meantime, members should not hesitate to stop by the TRICARE service center on the third floor of the MDG. Beneficiary counseling and assistance coordinators can be reached at (623) 856-3079 to answer questions or work through concerns with members.
