Chaplain thoughts …

A presidential advisor was seated at a state dinner and caught a side glance of blue trousers with yellow stripes nearby. The serving staff was dressed in this manner so she asked for a glass of wine. The trousers however did not belong to a waiter but to the dress uniform of Gen. Peter Chiarelli, who at the time was the U.S. Army vice chief of staff. Rather than taking offense at the mistake, Chiarelli proceeded to get the advisor a glass of wine – in the general’s words; “It was an honest mistake that anyone could have made. She was sitting, I was standing and walking behind her and all she saw were the two stripes on my pants which were almost identical to the waiters’ pants — really!”
