AFAS and sequestration

The Air Force Aid Society will not be shut down by the current threat of government furloughs and cutbacks in service. AFAS is a private, nonprofit charitable organization that exists solely to assist military members and their families and will continue to operate fully despite the current federal sequestration. Whether assistance for emergency travel, unpaid rent, overdue utility bills, etc., AFAS will continue to provide full service to the Luke Air Force Base community. Community programs like Child Care for PCS, Give Parents A Break, Bundles for Babies, or Car Care Because We Care will continue to be fully funded. AFSA is staffed by federal government employees. These employees’ hours may be affected in the event of the furlough; however, AFAS assistance will continue to be available as in the past. For more information, call (623) 856-6550 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or visit the Airman and Family Readiness Center in Bldg. 1113.
