Military and veterans expo

A military and veterans exposition will be held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18 in Wheeler Park and an Armed Forces Day parade at 11 a.m. in historic downtown Flagstaff. There will be military vehicles and equipment, history, simulators, recruitment, band and drill presentations, and veteran organization promotions. Days of Remembrance

This year’s Days of Remembrance theme is “Never Again; Heeding the Warning Signs.” A free Holocaust Memorial exhibit will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the Luke Community Chapel Annex and a luncheon will be at Club Five Six with guest speaker Rabbi John Linder of Temple Solel, Paradise Valley. Luncheon tickets are $8 and may be purchased at the Luke base chapel across from the fitness center. Reservations for tickets can be made by calling the chapel at (623) 856-6211. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Online magazines

Zinio, the online program that provides access to 650 magazines, has a new url. Luke Air Force Base Library patrons using Zinio need to use https://www.rbdigital.com/aflis/zinio in order to log into their accounts and continue having free access to magazines. For more information, call (623) 856-7191 or stop by the library at 7424 N. Homer Drive, Bldg. 219.

AFSA meeting

The Air Force Sergeants Association Cactus Eagle Chapter 1260 will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Club Five Six Barcelona Room. For more information, go to www.afsachapter1260.weebly.com or call Master Sgt. Dustin Withrow at (623) 856-2985.

Community assessment survey

The Air Force launched the 2013 Air Force Community Assessment Survey today. It runs through May 31 and is designed to determine the strengths and needs of the Luke Air Force Base community regarding community and installation improvements and services that support today’s Air Force families. Randomly selected survey participants, including military members, civilians and spouses, will receive the survey link by email or mail. Participation is anonymous. TA alternative

With the recent suspension of tuition assistance, the Luke Air Force Base Education Center has developed a one-hour briefing on finding alternate funding sources. The briefings are 9 a.m. Tuesday and May 7, and 2 p.m. April 25 in Room 3148 of Bldg. 1150.This briefing initially will be limited to active duty only. Grand Canyon day trip

A day trip to Grand Canyon is May 18. The cost is $35 per person and includes round trip transportation. For more information, call (623) 856-6267.

Commander’s calls

Brig. Gen. Mike Rothstein, 56th Fighter Wing commander, will hold commander’s calls at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. April 12 in the Luke Air Force Base Bryant Fitness Center gym.

Gillespie Memorial poker run

The 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron Petroleum and Oil Flight is hosting the 2nd Annual Master Sgt. Randy Gillespie Memorial Poker Run beginning at 9 a.m. May 4 at Jimbo’s, 12224 N. 51st Ave., Glendale, (602) 298-1500. Admission is $15 per single rider and $20 per rider with a passenger. The event is open to all motorcycles and cars. All proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project in Master Sgt. Randy Gillespie’s name. To register, go to http://terracoreit.com/donation.
