Commander’s calls

Brig. Gen. Mike Rothstein, 56th Fighter Wing commander, will hold commander’s calls at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today in the Luke Air Force Base Bryant Fitness Center gym.

21st FS change of command

Lt. Col. Sean Routier will relinquish command of the 21st Fighter Squadron to Lt. Col. Paul Willingham at 3:21 p.m. April 26 in Hangar 408.

Gillespie Memorial poker run

The 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron Petroleum and Oil Flight is hosting the 2nd Annual Master Sgt. Randy Gillespie Memorial Poker Run beginning at 9 a.m. May 4 at Jimbo’s, 12224 N. 51st Ave., Glendale, (602) 298-1500. Admission is $15 per single rider and $20 per rider with a passenger. The event is open to all motorcycles and cars. All proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project in Master Sgt. Randy Gillespie’s name. To register, go to http://terracoreit.com/donation. LOSC luncheon

Military and veterans expo

A military and veterans exposition will be held 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 18 in Wheeler Park and an Armed Forces Day parade at 11 a.m. in historic downtown Flagstaff. There will be military vehicles and equipment, history, simulators, recruitment, band and drill presentations, and veteran organization promotions. Children’s programs

The Luke Air Force Base Library offers children’s programs. Babies and their moms are welcome at a Baby Time that meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Toddlers and preschoolers meet at
9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Stories, songs and interactive play are part of each program. No registration is required. For more information, call (623) 856-7191 or come to Bldg. 219 at 7424 N. Homer Drive.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

There is a Stand in Their Shoes and Make a Difference shoe decorating contest sponsored by the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office. Decorate any type of shoe, sandal or boot in support of all victims, survivors and their families. Provide the artist’s name, squadron and duty phone number on the sole of the shoe. When the shoe decoration is complete, drop it off at the Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Office, located in Bldg. 1150, Room 1052. All submissions are due no later than April 24. Day-in-the-west tour

Outdoor recreation is featuring a day-in-the-west tour May 4. Horseback ride, 4×4 jeep tour and a western show are included. The cost is $175 per adult and children 12 and younger are $155 each. Sign up by April 27. For more information, call (623) 856-6267.

TA alternative

With the recent suspension of tuition assistance, the Luke Air Force Base Education Center has developed a one-hour briefing on finding alternate funding sources. The briefings are 2 p.m. April 25 and 9 a.m. May 7 in Room 3148 of Bldg. 1150. This briefing initially will be limited to active duty only. Online magazines

Zinio, the online program that provides access to 650 magazines, has a new url. Luke Air Force Base Library patrons using Zinio need to use https://www.rbdigital.com/aflis/zinio in order to log into their accounts and continue having free access to magazines. For more information, call (623) 856-7191 or stop by the library at 7424 N. Homer Drive, Bldg. 219.

AFGE cookout

Defense Department, nonappropriated fund, Army, Air Force Exchange Services and Defense Commissary Agency employees are invited to a picnic 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 24 or 25 at Fowler Park. The food is free. The AFGE Local 1547 will talk about how the union is working for members. For more information, call Diane Talley at (623) 856-6957.

Auto maintenance class

Basic auto preventive maintenance classes are 3 to 5 p.m. the third Saturday of the month for ages 16 and older. Learn how to change the oil and filter, check fluids and tire pressure, and perform a vehicle safety inspection. The class is free. For more information, call (623) 856-6107.

Auto hobby shop

The auto shop offers full-service auto repair and do-it-yourself assistance. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. the first Friday of the month. For more information, call (623) 856-6107.

Child care

On-base child care providers are wanted. For more information, call (623) 856-7472.

Barber shop

The barber shop is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays in the 56th Force Support Squadron Community Center, Bldg. 700. Walks-ins are welcome. For more information or to make an appointment, call (623) 856-5742.
