Street Beat – April 12, 2013

The 56th Security Force Squadron handled the following incidents March 22 through 28:

Tickets

Security forces issued citations for nine moving and one nonmoving violations.

Traffic-related incidents

March 29: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident at the intersection of Mustang Street and Bong Lane. There were no injuries.

March 29: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident in the base exchange parking garage. There were no injuries.

March 30: Security forces assisted Maricopa County Sheriff with a major vehicle accident off base.

April 1: Security forces responded to a report of a minor vehicle accident adjacent to the base chapel. There were no injuries.

April 2: Security forces responded to a report of a major vehicle accident at the intersection of Bong Lane and Eagle Street. There were no injuries.

Emergency responses

April 2: Security forces responded to a report of a suspicious letter found on base. A subject was detained and barred from the installation for threats made.

Nonemergency responses

March 29: Security forces responded to a report of theft of private property at the commissary. The incident is under investigation.

March 30: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting at the base exchange. Glendale police arrived and took control.

April 3: Security forces assisted Glendale police with making an arrest of an active-duty member at Kustom Kuts Barbershop.

April 4: Security forces responded to a report of shoplifting at the base exchange. An active-duty member was taken into custody and later released to the unit first sergeant.

Alarm activations

Security forces responded to five alarm activations on base.

Tip of the week

Adhere to all customs and courtesies while on base. When reveille, retreat or taps begin to play, vehicles are to pull to the side of the road until the last note is played.

Zell Cameron, 56th Force Support Squadron Bryant Fitness Center supervisory maintenance technician, performs safety checks throughout the fitness center at Luke Air Force Base. The fitness center was named in honor of Lt. Col. Frank D. Bryant Jr., who was killed in action April 27, 2011, while serving in Afghanistan.
