21st FS change of command

Lt. Col. Sean Routier will relinquish command of the 21st Fighter Squadron to Lt. Col. Paul Willingham at 3:21 p.m. April 26 in Hangar 408.

Adult craft group

Create candy topiaries using Dum-Dum Pops at the adult craft group at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Luke Air Force Base Library. All materials are provided and no experience is necessary. For more information or to make a reservation, call (623) 856-7191.

APAH Month

May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month and kicks off with a golf tournament at 7:30 a.m. April 26 at Falcon Dunes Golf Course that includes lunch. APAH items will be on display at the Luke Air Force Base Library May 1 through 31. A Taste of Asia food event is May 17 at the Community Chapel and a luncheon, open to the Luke Air Force Base community, is 11 a.m. May 23 at the Navy Operational Support Center on Luke. Job fair

The Airman & Family Readiness Center is featuring a job fair 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 7 in Club Five Six. More than 60 employers will attend. Admission and resume review is free. Attendees should bring a resume and dress for interviews. For more information, call (623) 856-6550.

Fitness assessment changes

There are changes to the fitness assessment. Those taking the fitness assessment must bring with them the necessary paperwork, which includes the fitness screening questionnaire and the profile, if applicable. Anyone arriving without these items will be turned away and reported as a “no show.” The reporting location for the FA is Bldg. 700 (Subway building), not the base gym. Dial 9-1-1

Dial 9-1-1 in all emergencies including security, fire, medical, hazardous material, suspicious packages, active shooters, etc. All base emergency response agencies receive information from the emergency communication center located in the fire department including calls from cell phones. Cell towers pick up the location and route the call to dispatchers or in the case of cell tower saturation, the call is sent to Glendale then automatically rerouted to Luke without a noticeable time lag. Air Force Association golf tourney

The 14th Annual Air Force Association Frank Luke Chapter Benefit Golf Tournament is May 3 at Falcon Dunes Golf Course. Registration is 6:30 a.m. and shotgun start is 7:30 a.m. The entry fee is $65 per person or $45 per military active duty player. To register by April 30, call Staff Sgt. Read-2-Bowl program

For each book read at the appropriate age level, Luke Air Force Base children, ages 6 to 12, receive a certificate for one free game of bowling at Thunderbolt Lanes after submitting a book report verified by library personnel. Barber shop

The barber shop is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays in the 56th Force Support Squadron Community Center, Bldg. 700. Walks-ins are welcome. For more information or to make an appointment, call (623) 856-5742.

Club Five Six events

Mongolian barbecue will be served 5 to 7 p.m. May 2. The cost is $65 per ounce.

Karaoke is 5 to 8 p.m. May 3 in Harlow’s Lounge. There will also be a DJ and dancing. Admission is free.

A Mother’s Day brunch is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 12. The cost is $27.50 per adult, $17.50 for children ages 6 to 10 and under 5 eat free. Club members get a $2 discount. Reservations are requested but walk-ins are welcome.

Gillespie Memorial poker run

The 56th Logistics Readiness Squadron Petroleum, Oil and Lubrications Flight is hosting the 2nd Annual Master Sgt. Randy Gillespie Memorial Poker Run beginning at 9 a.m. May 4 at Jimbo’s, 12224 N. 51st Ave., Glendale, (602) 298-1500. Admission is $15 per single rider and $20 per rider with a passenger. The event is open to all motorcycles and cars. All proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project in Gillespie’s name. To register, go to http://terracoreit.com/donation. Children’s programs

The Luke Air Force Base Library offers children’s programs. Babies and their moms are welcome at a Baby Time that meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Toddlers and preschoolers meet at

9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Stories, songs and interactive play are part of each program. No registration is required. For more information, call (623) 856-7191 or come to Bldg. 219 at 7424 N. Homer Drive.

Sexual Assault Awareness

There is a “Stand in Their Shoes and Make a Difference” shoe decorating contest sponsored by the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office. Decorate any type of shoe, sandal or boot in support of all victims, survivors and their families. Provide the artist’s name, squadron and duty phone number on the sole of the shoe. When the shoe decoration is complete, drop it off at the Sexual Assault Prevention & Response Office, located in Bldg. 1150, Room 1052. All submissions are due no later than Wedneseday. Day-in-the-west tour

Outdoor recreation is featuring a day-in-the-west tour May 4. Horseback ride, 4×4 jeep tour and a western show are included. The cost is $175 per adult and children 12 and younger are $155 each. Sign up by April 27. For more information, call (623) 856-6267.

AFGE cookout

Defense Department, nonappropriated fund, Army, Air Force Exchange Services and Defense Commissary Agency employees are invited to a picnic 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fowler Park. Auto maintenance class

Basic auto preventive maintenance classes are 3 to 5 p.m. the third Saturday of the month for ages 16 and older. Learn how to change the oil and filter, check fluids and tire pressure, and perform a vehicle safety inspection. The class is free. For more information, call (623) 856-6107.

Auto hobby shop

The auto shop offers full-service auto repair and do-it-yourself assistance. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. the first Friday of the month. For more information, call (623) 856-6107.
