Commander’s comments: “Airman Chaidez’s dedication is apparent in her day-to-day tasks,” said Col. Nicola Choate, 56th MDOS commander. “Her efforts have reduced the no-show rate to 3-percent beating the Air Force standard of 5 percent. She is one of 17 Airmen who has been trained and entrusted to suture and perform skin biopsies. She has assisted with 35 minor surgical procedures. Her thorough pre- and post-operative care and instructions have resulted in a zero infection rate. She has fulfilled her up-grade training requirements and is currently 85 percent task certified thus 28 percent above her peers. She is also a Spanish translator bridging the language gap between the patients and the clinic. She is dedicated to her community and to self-improvement, and one of our future leaders.
