May kicks off a year-long commander’s campaign, “Building Trust, Deterring Crime.” The goal is to build teams where trust of one another and the leader is foundational.
The objective is to build trust that promotes a culture of respect and responsibility. This is achieved through various actions including Airmen encouraging one another to succeed, not tolerating abusive language or conduct, and promoting positive behavior. In the end, a team that trusts will care for one another and succeed; this is the ultimate criminal deterrent.
Quarterly themes to create a new culture will be advanced throughout the year. They include:
• Critical days of summer – Airmen promote positive behavior by using alcohol responsibly and reporting crimes such as illegal drug use and underage drinking, and focus on summer safety
• Professional relationships, “You can count on me” – Airmen use their rank and position by maintaining professional relationships 24/7, a professional training environment and never taking advantage of subordinates or trainees
• Equal opportunity – Zero tolerance for sexual assault and respect for the diversity of others
• Bring it all together – Team members trust one another and their leaders through a culture of respect and responsibility
The campaign begins by highlighting the AADD program and how Airmen can use alcohol responsibly (For story, see Page 11.) The Wing Commander’s Honor Roll is a list of 56th Fighter Wing units that have had no alcohol-related incidents for more than three months. ARIs are Uniformed Code of Military Justice offenses committed while drinking alcohol resulting in a letter of reprimand and/or unfavorable information file or higher.
