THUNDERBOLT OF THE WEEK

TBOLTW-Amn-Bird-3-May
Airman 1st Class Joshua Bird

56th Fighter Wing Legal Office

Paralegal, adverse actions

Years in service: One

Inspirations: Past great Americans, i.e. George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln

Goals: Get a bachelor’s degree while on active duty

Greatest feat: Joining the Air Force

Self-description: Detail oriented, think outside the box, like difficult problems, team player; witty and lucky possibly due to deep Irish roots

Off-duty interests: Running, hiking, cooking, playing harmonica, “busting up the dance floor,” driving and exploring Arizona

Staff judge advocate’s comments: Airman Bird compels success,” said Lt. Col. Thomas Cluff Jr., 56th FW SJA. “He possesses an uncanny ability to seize the initiative, develop effective solutions, and rally Airmen in the face of any calamity or challenge “In his duties as an adverse actions paralegal, he provides administrative support in processing all nonjudicial punishment and examines evidence for sufficiency of facts. He ensures swift and accurate justice is served through Article 15 actions in one of Air Education and Training Command’s busiest legal offices. He educates first sergeants on processes and keeps commanders informed on the status of discipline within their units. He has shown great leadership and teamwork by taking on our office fitness program, creating a running clinic and pacing colleagues during fitness tests resulting in a 96-percent average for the office.
