Brittney Powers, Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium education specialist, displays a blue-tongued skink. Other animals that visited the CDC included the African pygmy hedgehog, ball python, African spurred tortoise and more. The African spurred tortoise is the third largest species of tortoise in the world. Adults are usually 36-inches long and can weigh 200 pounds. The African pygmy hedgehog’s diet consists of cat or dog food, is a great companion and is usually nocturnal, although they can be trained to come out during the day.
