756th AMXS COC

Lt. Col. James Upchurch will relinquish command of the 756th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron to Lt. Col. Dominick Martin in a change-of-command ceremony at 8 a.m. Thursday in Hangar 913.

Clothing Drive

The 56th Fighter Wing Chapel is hosting a clothing drive through Wednesday to help provide Veteran’s clothes suitable for business casual and interviewing. Drop off locations are the Spiritual Maintenance Center in Hangar 914, Structural Maintenance Shop in Hangar 915 and the Chapel lobby located in Bldg. 799

Health seminar

The Luke Air Force Base Fire Emergency Services is featuring a Spring Training for the Healthy Heart seminar 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 24 at the base theater. For more information, call Marty Yates at (623) 856-3761.

‘Arsenic and Old Lace’

The Luke Experience is featuring “Arsenic and Old Lace” at 7 p.m. May 24, 25, 31 and June 1 at the base theater. The Luke Experience is also looking for adults, 18 and older, who are interested in acting, singing, improvisation and backstage support. For more information, call (623) 856-9949.

Read-2-Bowl program

For each book read at the appropriate age level, Luke Air Force Base children, 6 to 12, receive a certificate or one free game of bowling at Thunderbolt Lanes after submitting a book report verified by library personnel. APAH Month

May is Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. APAH items will be on display at the Luke Air Force Base Library throughout May. A Taste of Asia food event will be held today at the Community Chapel and a luncheon, open to the base community, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Navy Operational Support Center on Luke. The luncheon will feature local Asian-Pacific inspired food and cultural performances. For more information, call (623) 856-3052 or email mary.williams.33@us.af.mil.

Base-wide exercise

The 56th Fighter Wing will conduct an emergency management exercise Wednesday. The exercise will include military and local, county and state law enforcement, and fire departments. On and off base residents should expect traffic disruptions, gate closures or delays, and interruptions of customer service operations. Expect to see simulated explosions, smoke, role players depicting individuals with injuries, and emergency responders to include fire, police, ambulances and medical evacuation helicopters. The exercise is designed to encourage emergency cooperation with local officials and to familiarize civilian emergency responders with military procedures.

Boots to Business

The Luke Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center is featuring a two-day Transition Assistance Program Self-Employment Intensive Training workshop at 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 14 through 15 and Nov. 6 through 7 at the A&FRC. The purpose of the workshop is to learn about starting a business, learn if various business ideas are feasible and assist individuals in developing a plan for future ventures. To be eligible, attendees must be a transitioning service member, veteran or spouse interested in starting a business. To register, call (623) 856-6550.

Lightning Leadership

Luke Air Force Base is going back to the basics on leadership. A new 56th Fighter Wing initiative, Lightning Leadership, featuring Leadership 101 classes will kickoff May 29 through 31 at 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. at Bldg. 700.
