Officer Cory Becker, 56th SFS lead police officer, directs Staff Sgt. Chris Waters, 56th SFS patrolman, to clear his weapon. SFS members return gear and weapons to storage at the end of every shift cleared and empty of ammunition.

Tech. Sgt. Richard Flores, 56th SFS flight sergeant, delivers guard mount updates during the night shift. Guard mount is a briefing to update the next shift on what to be alert to such as safety hazards to the base. Base access is also a function of security forces. The South Gate and Lightning Gate are open 24/7. The Kachina Gate is open limited hours during the school year and closed for the summer.

Officer Cory Becker, 56th SFS lead police officer, demonstrates how to properly hold a person in the prone position April 23 during a training exercise. The purpose of the prone and kneeling positions is to subdue a person who is uncooperative. The overall purpose of the training is to keep SFS members up to date in law enforcement tactics and skills.

The F-35 Lightning II isn’t the only lightning striking over Luke Air Force Base. This strike, about five miles west of the Luke flightline, was captured on camera at 1:12 a.m. Aug. 12 at the jet engine test cell.
